Support literacy with a donation to the Words in the Wild Foundation
Grow our Teaching Fellowship
Support our teaching fellowship — one of the most unique aspects of our organization — with a donation to the Words in the Wild Foundation.
The teaching fellowship:
strengthens the teacher pipeline
provides novice and veteran teachers with skills and knowledge to bolster against burnout and teacher turnover
teaches educators how to effectively teach reading using research-based practices
Fellows gain depth of knowledge in literacy instruction and breadth of experience supporting children. Over the course of this one to two year experience, they get:
paid for their time both teaching and learning (that’s where you come in!)
instructional coaching, support and professional development from Dr. Filippini and senior staff
hands-on experience in classrooms, small group reading intervention, and one-to-one tutoring
additional instruction in neurodiversity
practice incorporating nature-based instruction
This Fellowship is needed now more than ever, as we all grapple with ways to better support our teachers, our students and our districts.
With your support, our goal is to add two fellows in 2025-2026.
This ambitious goal will allow us to:
continue providing this vital support to teachers
add a much-requested opportunity for in-service teachers working in their own classroom to benefit

Your Donation Makes a Huge Impact
Here’s how you can help with a sustaining donation:
$25/month provides a professional learning text for 2 Fellows
$50/month allows one Fellow a lesson shadowing opportunity
$90/month covers one Fellow’s transportation costs among schools for instruction and coaching for the year
$250/month covers facilitation of a Teaching Fellows community of practice
If you would like to make a one-time donation, consider:
$200 to offset orientation and onboarding costs for one Fellow
$350 to send one Fellow to a Structured Word Inquiry professional development seminar
$600 to support one Fellow’s participation in our weekly professional learning community for a semester
$1,400 to provide a community event led by Fellows: storytime, family literacy night or a local festival pop-up

“Being a Teaching Fellow for Words in the Wild has given me the unique opportunity to practice educational therapy and learn valuable skills that I wouldn’t have the chance to learn elsewhere. I have gained so many skills, experiences, and knowledge about teaching and I love this organization with my whole heart!”
— Ella Holton-McCoy,
Teaching Fellowship Graduate
